Kuan-Yin’s Food Cupboard

What Is Kuan-Yin’s Food Cupboard?
Kuan-Yin’s Food Cupboard was organized in 2002 by Charlene Hacker of Psychic’s Thyme, Myriah of Othala Grove Spiritual Center and Linda Hanley of Northeast Council of W.I.C.C.A. We felt the Greater Rochester area pagan community needed to have a pagan food pantry for those in need. The food pantry is named after the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion, Kuan-Yin. Last year Northeast Council of W.I.C.C.A. took over maintaining, housing and stocking the pantry.

Where Is It Located?

Casa Bella Luna at 2888 Dewey Avenue in Rochester, NY.

Who Is It For?
Pagans in and around the Greater Rochester area who are in need may come at any time to get non-perishable foods. Pagans who are experiencing financial difficulties, loss of income, whatever the circumstances you are welcomed to come and get the food that you need. There is no application we only ask that you call ahead of your visit so we are aware that you will be stopping by. Please bring bags or boxes with you to transport the food. If you know of anyone in the pagan community who is in need, but they are unable to come by and get food – please contact Linda at lhanley1@rochester.rr.com or by calling (585) 964-2736 so that arrangements can be made for delivery, or you may pick up the food for them.

Who Maintains the Cupboard?
Northeast Council of W.I.C.C.A. maintains the food pantry. If you are interested in donating, please contact Linda at lhanley1@rochester.rr.com

Who Donates the Food?
Northeast Council of W.I.C.C.A. members, people who participate in Northeast Council of W.I.C.C.A. open Sabbat celebrations and those who attend Northeast Council of W.I.C.C.A. general membership meetings. Anyone may donate items for the food cupboard to help pagans in the Greater Rochester area.

Is There A Limit on What Is Given Out?
No, as long as you don’t “clean out” the pantry. We have an ample supply on hand.

What Kinds of Foods Do You Have?
We have canned and boxed foods, vegetables, soups, cereals, etc.

What Do We Need for the Pantry?
Non-perishable foods such as rice, macaroni, cereals, etc.; toiletries; pet supplies (many pagans own animals and they need food/bedding also); canned goods; laundry supplies; personal hygiene items; toweling paper; kleenex; etc.

It takes all of us coming together to make a difference in the pagan community. Show your concern and compassion by donating non-perishable food items for the pantry.

When and Where Can Items Be Dropped Off?
At any open Sabbat ceremony sponsored by Northeast Council of W.I.C.C.A. or at any General Membership Meeting. You may also drop items off at Casa Bella Luna, 2888 Dewey Ave in Rochester, NY.
